Ants Purity Carpenter Ant Control Carpenter
Ants are wood-destroying insects
that are typically about 1/4 – 1/2
inch in size and blackish in colour.
They may be associated with piles
of sawdust-like materials, expelled
from their nests through slit-like
openings. Their tunnels are clean,
and do not contain dirt as do termite's
tunnels. Depending on the size of
the nest you can actually hear them
chewing on the wood in your walls.
Carpenter
ants use wood as their nest site,
but do not eat the wood. Sawdust
(frass) and small wood chips are
a good indicator of carpenter ant
activity. Although the ants may damage
sound wood, the majority of excavations
occur in damp or decaying wood.
Occasionally, swarms of winged carpenter
ants will emerge inside a home, usually
in the spring, and are a sure sign
that a colony is nesting somewhere
inside the structure.
